nVidia GTX750. From £80. Is notably better than 7770 (notably, not vastly...)

Them what about Radeon RX Vega 64? Delivers significant performance and improvements and is a worthy competitor to Nvidia’s GTX 1080. Not as quick as the GTX 1080 Ti, but then again, it's much cheaper.

tis indeed the thread that refuses to die.

Also, surprisingly for an elder's thread, it hasn't derailed yet.

What do you want us to talk about? Shoes, funerals or colonoscopies?

I'm trying to con my Elf-Slave into buying herself a 1060 6GB GTX and give me her budget 1050 2 GB.
Or I will buy the 1050-Ti 4GB which is the most I can fix into my main-board. (No added cooling option)

Generally I'm trying to find a way to convince myself to upgrade my system - but can find no rational arguments.
GTX 750 apart, that is.

I have a new build to share as well. Mine was long overdue, in fact my son's PC was far more powerful than my old one - and I couldn't let that stand.

Your build is invisible, being... UNDER MODERATION.....

Having a daughter, I feel no need to have a better comp than her.
(She's using Tombpyre's eight years old parts in her build... LOL.. That shows how stale PC progress is...)

The progress these days is in power consumption and heat generation. I can assure you there is a marked decrease in these with newer components.

GPUs still do get better performance, too. It's just that very few of the more demanding games interest me nowadays, as is probably true for a lot of the last-millenium people.
